Hell on Earth
Jan. 8th, 2024 04:21 amSee, when your q key stops working, there are easy workarounds. Copy-and-paste, mainly.
But when your escape key stops working. well. That's when problems happen. I spent an hour playing a game desperately trying to open the menu(bound to escape, as many if not most PC video game menus are) so that I could see if there was a keybind setting so that I could re-bind the Q it was asking me to use to engage with a(fairly significant but not necessarily required) element of the game only to realize that maybe, maybe the problem wasn't with the game, but with my keyboard. Lo and behold, when I loaded up Minecraft to test my hypothesis: the escape key not working unless I pressed down long enough it was going to be inconvenient forever.
On top of that my touchpad finally stopped working, so, hooray for that I guess. I had a spare USB mouse lying around, so I'm more or less alright on that front for now, but I do need to actually buy a keyboard now so that I don't have to live in fear of my entire keyboard slowly but surely failing on me for the forseeable future.
Alas(I'm being overly dramatic on purpose at this point I think), because it is four in the morning, this is going to be a tomorrow problem. Maybe I'll ask someone else in my house what kind of keyboard they recommend, though I don't have much faith in their suggestions being good, because my mom sings the praises of her tiny folding bluetooth keyboard that I could barely use it felt so much like trying to type on a cheap toy.
